Triangle Impact hosts The Home Depot and Cisco Systems for a Corporate Day of Service
Volunteers from The Home Depot and Cisco Systems gathered at The Healing Place to build a wooden swing set and picnic tables, dig a flower bed and garden area, and clear debris from the woods to make way for a new meditation walking trail. The event was a part of the national Hands On Network "Day of Service" to encourage volunteers to get involved in their communities.
The morning began with breakfast and an introduction by Jeff Ware, Triangle Impacts Executive Director, who explained the activities for the day. As soon as Jeff had finished, the volunteers broke into groups and began work. One group quickly assembled and painted several picnic tables, while another group filled 2 large dumpsters with wood and debris in just minutes.
Although the clay was hard and difficult to penetrate, The Home Depot team quickly called in for reinforcements and delivered a tiller that was used in the garden and flower bed. A fresh layer of soil was added to a wood-framed 40 X 40 garden. The new residents of The Healing Place will surely enjoy planting vegetables in this sunny spot!

The day was sunny and beautiful, and a bit hot in the mid-day, but we all kept well hydrated thanks to the generous donation of water and sodas from Pepsi.
By the end of the day, volunteers from The Home Depot and Cisco Systems had created a warm and inviting area for the residents of The Healing Place, including a wonderful wooden play set for the children.
